What are you doing to make sure that every day is Earth day?
According to EarthDay.org “Earth Day Network’s year-round mission is to broaden, diversify and activate the environmental movement worldwide, through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns.”
Well at Healthy Home our campaigns are simple, “Making your home a healthier place to raise a family!”, “Join a Cause, start a movement”, and “Danger products in your home may contain toxic chemicals,”, all these lead to one thing- make changes in your home to create a better environment for yourself, your family, your friends and your pets. Not only do replacing products who disrupt our ability to reproduce, who disrupt our children’s ability to develop properly, who disrupt our hormones and send us into a tailspin, who cause rashes, respiratory issues, among others, help you both physically and even financially (as healthier products means not sinking as many dollars at the doctor), it also helps the environment.
There are less harmful chemicals floating around wreaking havoc on our wildlife, causing male frogs to turn into female frogs, or ending up in our water supply ensuring everyone gets a share of the chemical whether the use it or not. I personally dream of a day where Earth Day does not have a clean up the earth (trash pickup) component to it because every human is responsible enough for themselves and kind enough to take responsibility for others to make it their job to pick up that piece of trash off the sidewalk or the plastic bottle that just washed up on the beach and toss it or recycle it. I love Disney in many ways, but one thing I love dearly is the fact that when all 58,000 “Cast Members”, as they are called, are gathered together and they are asked how many people work in the Custodian department? all 58,000 answer “I do”. This is a reflection of the pride and ownership they take in their work, but the most peculiar thing is that they carry this philosophy into their daily lives outside the park. Chew on that!
Whether you are into this “green” movement or not, it is worth checking out, as the saying above says “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children” and don’t we want to leave it in better shape than we found it for them? Let us make a change, let us stop polluting our bodies, the food supply and the earth. Look for sustainable alternatives, replacement products that are certified ToxicFree, EcoCert, USDA Organic, Cruelty Free, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance Certified, and so on, thus ensuring you are dealing with a company who cares about YOU and the earth.
