So we are suffering through the ill effects of Montosanto’s RoundUp (which have recently come to light), only to find out that Dow’s Enlist® Duo, an extraordinarily potent weed-killer designed to kill the new generation of so-called “superweeds” who are now resistant to Round Up. So to get those who have not been following up Montosanto, GMO’s and RoundUP, in 2009, a French court found Monsanto guilty of lying; falsely advertising its Roundup herbicide as “biodegradable,” “environmentally friendly” and claiming it “left the soil clean.”, but we continued to use it here in the US). Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who also has an undergraduate degree in biology from MIT and a minor in food and nutrition, reveals how glyphosate, an ingredient found in the pesticide RoundUp, wrecks human health:
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Systemic toxicity
- Gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis and Crohn’s disease
- Cardiovascular disease
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- ALS, and more
You remember me inviting you to a hangout with your gut recently? Well, if you don’t find my post 🙂 If this makes no sense, I will in a second. You see the bacteria in your gut help glyphosate carry out the sad mission of harming your body. The journal Entropy, talks about how glyphosate residues, (again found in RoundUp)– which are now found in those foods we most commonly consume as part of the Standard American Diet thanks to GE sugar, corn, soy and wheat, “enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease.” Your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad, the thing is that glyphosate has an affinity for the good bacteria in your system.
Here is the kicker; RoundUp disrupts something called the shikimate pathway (I researched this term and it was full of very complicated terms all that summed up to say that it is a process that is essential for production of a plethora of aromatic amino acids, like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan compounds in plants, bacteria, and fungi (only present in plants), but….
According to Dr. Seneff– However, this pathway is present in gut bacteria, thus playing an important role, but largely overlooked role in human physiology. You see, since glyphosaste likes to attack good bacteria and since we this pathway is present in good the bacteria in your gut, then it likes to destroy the good bacteria in our gut. The good bacteria in addition to aiding digestion, the gut microbiota synthesize vitamins, detoxify xenobiotics, and participate in immune system homeostasis and gastrointestinal tract permeability. Furthermore, dietary factors modulate the microbial composition of the gut.”
All very fancy terminology to say that when we consume anything that has been tainted with this glyphosate, we are introducing into our systems and thus disrupting our gut, wreaking all kinds of havoc. As part of her research she has also discovered that glyphosate disrupts cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes (which refers to a big and varied group of enzymes that basically work in tandem to produce energy among other things). Another important function of this group of enzymes is to detoxify the body, and by this ingredient’s ability to limit enzymes of doing their job it creates, enhances glyphosate it increases the devastating effects of chemicals and toxins our bodies are already exposed to via the environment and other pathways.
Do you see the connection now- glyphosate – crops – consumption – disruption of enzymes in gut and as we know health starts in the gut, but lets continue…
She goes on to state that we have steadily seen an increase in illnesses which include:
“Gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, autism, infertility, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. … [T]he recent alarming increase in all of these health issues can be traced back to a combination of gut dysbiosis, impaired sulfate transport, and suppression of the activity of the various members of the cytochrome P450 (CYP) family of enzymes.”
What are the after effects? We are left with issues like gut dysbiosis (imbalances in gut bacteria, inflammation, leaky gut, food allergies such as gluten intolerance), ammonia in your system (as a byproduct of broken down glyphosate), which can lead to brain inflammation associated with autism and Alzheimer’s disease, shutting down of helpful detoxifying enzymes, amino acid deficiencies due to the alteration of food chemistry, beneficial microbes dying off and leaving us more vulnerable to disease…
And Dow’s Enlist® Duo, wants to introduce an extraordinarily potent weed-killer designed to kill the new generation of so-called “superweeds” called 2,4-D Herbicide, what is that going to do to our bodies?
Take precautions. Look for organic produce when all possible. The Enviornmental Working Group, EWG.org has a wonderful section on how to spot what pesticides have been used on produce (if you cannot avoid the supermarket), wash your produce thoroughly our CLEAN, product is toxic free and is designed for many uses, but ones is to wash fruits and vegetables, buy local – shop at your farmers market and inquire about how your produce was grown and what they use to keep weeds at bay. Research the products you bring into your home to ensure you do not introduce any additional/unnecessary chemicals, it only takes 26 seconds for your body to absorb any chemicals after your skin has made contact. Again EWG.org has a great guide for household products, check out how the products you use rate and adjust your purchases accordingly. If you feel you need to make adjustments, feel free to stop by www.MyToxicFreeClub and check out the selection of certified toxic free and organic products. Also make sure that you take supplements with pre and probiotics, research those supplements to make sure they are plant based, not synthetic, non-gmo and contain the amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Choose wisely, there are only a few true raw plant based supplement companies out there so don’t get duped, our company owns one of the few, so feel free to stop by www.MyToxicFreeClub and click on Health to find the OneBode supplements.
Lastly and most importantly, read labels carefully and do research to make sure the company is not “greenwashing” (a term used to promote the perception that an organization’s products, aims or policies are environmentally friendly, efforts can range from changing the name or label of a product to evoke the natural environment on a product that contains harmful chemicals). Stay informed, keep up with what is going on especially with this new formula of weed killer, as it surely will be much more harmful than RoundUp ever was!
